What key tasks have been completed?

  • we purchased the makeup products
  • we got the costumes
  • we found out if anyone had skin allergies
  • we tried the makeup ideas on each other
  • we started practicing hair ideas
  • we devised the makeup ideas with the director

what resources have been used?

  • the internet as we had to research the production to get an idea as to what the era is for the costume and makeup
  • makeup products like brushes and applicator

have your roles and responsibilities changed and if so, in what ways?

  • my roles were to look after costume and organize the makeup so people could get things without a mess
  • my responsibilities was to do the makeup and get the costume
  • our roles changed from makeup to costume as it was a big part of the production and needed more attention as we had a makeup team

are you keeping to agreed timescales? If not,  why have the timescales has to change?

  • yes i kept to the timescale and kept to my plans

was anything missed from the plan? how have you allocated these new tasks?

  • we started trying the makeup ideas on people to find out what shade of foundation to do and a lot eye shadow colour suits each eye colour
  • we started practicing hair styles  but we missed more on hair as the costume was more than we thought and makeup became a bigger deal.
  • we started drawing out the makeup ideas and what we wanted them to look like
  • we tried to find places in which we could hire costume then asked a teacher that helped with costume last year and she helped us try to find out what costume should look like
  • we researched skin allergies and which ways makeup can be safely and hygienically stored and the ways in which to put the makeup on
  • we discussed the cost of the makeup we need with the stage manager and what we can buy for the production

First day I got there early to get the makeup from the classroom to put in order and organize it so it will be easier to get things when the actors start coming through and getting there makeup done. I started off by telling my makeup crew what the looks are just so they don’t forget. I started off by getting the female actors that are meant to be acting as men as they were easiest to do and quicker as they only need a base, eyebrows and a bit of mascara.  By doing the easier actors for makeup it gave me the chance to do a lot of different skin types and i could get them out of the way to get onto the main characters. This way I got to do everyone’s makeup and try out different designs on each person. After doing the makeup I had to go to the costume room and help the main characters get into there costume. After everyone is on stage I have the chance to clean up the makeup and keep everything tidy. After cleaning the sponges and brushes, also putting cotton buds and tissues in the bin I had to keep an eye on the script for costume changes. As there was two of us for costume one of us would stay in the costume room and one in the makeup room so that we would cover both sides and there would be no trouble. After the show had finished I would leave some wipes so people can clean there makeup off and go to the costume room to help my partner as everyone would be giving us there costumes and we would hang it up on the rack. We would put the costumes on the rack scene by scene so the actors can pick them up quickly. After the costumes have been hung up and organised we would lock the door so no-one can take them away.

Monday 3rd

4th production meeting.

This week we were looking back on what we had done last week and what we are going to do this week. Last Wednesday the 29th me and my partner Megan practiced makeup on people to help us on doing it on people at the show.

On Tuesday we had a meeting about The teacher Torment that was happening on Thursday lunch time. We each got given a role for the Torment and some of these roles were the sponging, waxing, bake sale, beat the goaly and guess the baby. My role was sponging and having to fill buckets with hot water and sponges, get towels and bin bags for the teachers and wait outside for teachers and students who have been paided and stamped on the hand to come along. Each student who had paid the £2.00 got to throw a wet sponge at a teacher.

As we were preparing for the Teacher Torment we didn’t have a lot of time for makeup and costume other than practicing makeup on Wednesday night.

Graphic Design Halloween Costumes 2

Pixel & Pilcrow

It’s that time of year again, and I have no idea what I want to be for Halloween. Despite a rather random desire to perhaps wear a wig, I’ve got zero inspiration. So I started looking around for some graphic design-related outfits. There are some fun ones out there, so I thought I’d share this collection with you; categories include typography costumes, Pantone costumes, web design costumes, and famous art costumes).

Typography Costumes

I’ve always thought it’d be fun to go as a letterform, but have never really figured out how to make it work. For example could your hands be serifs, if you did it just right? I haven’t figured it out yet, but here are some ways other people have made it work for them.

The first option seems to be body paint (the face paint example is from a fun article in The Atlantic):
